The piers that once supported a section of German autobahn have been demolished. But only at the second time of asking.
A series of controlled blasts felled four of the six pillars; but two remained defiantly vertical as explosives failed to detonate. As local people and the news media looked on, engineers quickly reset, and the last two pillars fell:
