Mace boards embodied carbon bandwagon

Construction giant Mace is appealing to government urging the adoption of a “retrofit first” strategy in planning policy.

The company has released a comprehensive report titled “Transform & Renew – Making non-domestic buildings fit for a low carbon future” in order to promote the re-use and repurposing of existing non-domestic structures.

One of the report’s key recommendations is the introduction of a presumption in favour of redevelopment within UK planning policy. This would prioritise retrofitting existing buildings over demolition.
