February implosion date confirmed for former Trump casino.
Atlantic City officials have confirmed a demolition date for the former Trump Plaza and Casino. The casino’s main tower is scheduled to fall via controlled explosion on 17 February.
However, contrary to previous reports, the building’s current owner is not interested in auctioning off the opportunity to demolish Atlantic City’s former Trump Plaza casino.
Billionaire Carl Icahn has agreed to raze the defunct and dilapidated casino, but a spokesperson said, “From the beginning, we thought the auction and any other related spectacle presented a safety risk, and we were always clear that we would not participate in any way.”
