The unplanned collapse of a parking garage at Houston’s Corporate Plaza tonnes of concrete and steel onto the roof of a hydraulic excavator. But, miraculously, the operator walked away seemingly without a scratch.
The demolition of the parking garage was being carried out by Cherry Demolition, an award-winning contractor when the unplanned and catastrophic collapse occurred.
This is the second time in just a few months in which an excavator operator owes his life not to safe working methods and best practice but to the integrity of his machine’s cab and sheer good fortune.
