Zero Tolerance on abuse…

Together with Earthmovers magazine, DemolitionNews is taking a stand against online trolls.

In light of recent events in which we have been abused, harassed and threatened online, we have decided that – forthwith – DemolitionNews.com (and its associated Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts) will adopt a zero tolerance policy towards online abuse and threatening behaviour.

What does that mean?

Henceforth, we will adopt a “one strike and you’re out” policy. So, in the event of us receiving any such abuse or threat, our standard procedure will be as follows:

1. You will be immediately blocked and permanently barred from the site or page.
2. A screen-grab will be taken of the abuse or threatening message(s) for use in evidence.
3. The service host (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) will be notified, the screen-grab will be entered into evidence and we will seek to have you removed permanently from that service.
4. The abusive or threatening message(s) will be passed to the police for further investigation.
5. The abusive or threatening messages will be posted publicly.
6. The abusive or threatening messages will be sent to your employer.
7. Where applicable, the abusive or threatening messages will be sent to any trade association to which you or your employer belongs.

We recognise that the demolition industry is male dominated and that swearing and “banter” are an integral part of on and off-site communication. However, since we do not abuse, harass or threaten you at your place of work or in your home, we would like to think that you could extend to us the same decency.

We thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
