Erith hits the ground running…

Kent-based Erith Group starts New Year with some big wins.

Taberner HouseWhile some of us are still contemplating packing away the Christmas decorations, Erith Group has come out of the New Year traps like a greyhound on speed with a couple of major contract wins under its belt already.

The company has been appointed to deconstruct Taberner House. Constructed in the 1960’s, the building is 19 storeys in height and is situated in the heart of Central Croydon, south London. The multi-storey office block, formerly hosting Croydon Borough Council’s Head Quarters, will be deconstructed in a controlled top down sequence down to the existing ground level. The project in its entirety also consists of service isolation and disconnections, scaffold encapsulation, installation of perimeter hoarding and extensive weather proofing to the retained ground floor slab.
Works are scheduled to commence in mid-January 2014 with a completion date of mid-December 2014.

In addition, Erith is celebrating winning the demolition and deconstruction works at 20 Eastbourne Terrace, Paddington. The concrete-framed office block is 17 storeys in height and is located east of Paddington Station. The building is founded on a piled raft and the structural frame comprises of RC core staircases either side of the building. The building also has a lower ground floor and basement which houses a substation which is to be retained during the demolition phase of works. Additional works include soft strip, asbestos removal, services removal and an extensive temporary works scheme design by Erith Contractors design subsidiary Swanton Consulting Ltd.
