Saginaw Plaza Hotel contract attracts wide spread of bids.

Bids for the demolition of the Plaza Hotel in Saginaw, Michigan have served as a timely reminder that that age of wie bid spreads is far from over. Low bidder Bielen bid the project at $297,691 for both a 45-and 90-day schedule. Coming in a close second was Bay City-based Dore Enterprises, which bid $360,250 to complete the work in 45 days, and $299,250 to complete the work in 90 days. Saginaw County purchasing requirements give preference to local companies.

However, the highest bid came from STE Construction, which proposed $1.168 million to complete the work in 45 days, and $812,687 to complete the work in 90 days.

Other bidders included Rohde Bros. Excavating and Mead & Sons Contracting of Saginaw County, the Adamo Group of Detroit, Pitsch Cos. of Grand Rapids, Homrich of Carelton, STE Construction of Mount Clemens, and Apollo Dismantling of Niagara Falls, N.Y.
