Blasting specialists turn sights on Ohio grain silos and elevtaor.

City officials will hold a public information meeting next week to discuss the demolition of the former ConAgra grain mill on the Huron River.

Demolition contractor Burdue & Associates LLC, of Sandusky, has subcontracted Advanced Explosives Demolition to remove the seven-storey mill building, grain elevator and silos.

The buildings rank among the largest in Huron and are visible for miles. The Harvest States Milling warehouse is 120 feet tall with eight stories and has 195,000 square feet. The 33 grain storage silos are 100 feet tall and the grain storage shed, at 15 stories and 180 feet tall, is one of the tallest structures in Erie County that is not an amusement park ride.
