AR Demolition to the rescue…

UK contractor provides a special day for a special boy

AR 15All too often, the demolition industry is unfairly portrayed as a marauding bunch of savages who will demolish your house and steal the lead from your roof.

Anyone with any connection to the industry will realise that this is a total fabrication and that, while demolition contractors are generally as hard as nails, they’re absolute pussycats when it comes to supporting a worthwhile charitable cause.

So it is pleasing to have received a letter from David Foster whose son William is diagnosed with ASD, Anxiety and OCD. We’ll let David take up the story:

William has many obsessions but recently the main obsession has been about an old college building in Kettering, the former Tresham College complex. It has been empty for a number of years and he has had an active interest in it for quite a while. Recently news came about that the site had been sold and was to be redevloped. Of course this got William very excited.

Anyway, contractors started to fence the site off and preparing to demolish. I thought that it would be great if William could be part of it in some way so he could remember it. I sent an email to AR Demolition asking when they would be demolishing the building, i explained why and they came back to me and said that they would like to invite William round to show him what was going on.

So on the 16th June the big day arrived William accompanied by me and his pops (grandfather) arrived at the main gate, we were taken to the site office given hard hats and high vis’ jackets and off we went.

First stop William went in the lorry to load and unload massive skips, lights flashing, horn sounding off he went round the site, then it was in the small demolition excavator, a quick play with the levers and then it was into the cab of the biggest demolition excavator they have.

All the staff were absolutely amazing and spent lots of time talking to him explaining what was going on etc. They could not have been better, a true company that obviously cares for people and they deserve all the recognition they can get.

At the end of the tour William was made even happier by being allowed to keep the hard hat and vis’ vest and was also presented with an AR Demolition mug.

He is still smiling now, and he will remember the day forever i am sure.
