Geith to close Wales facility…

Doosan Infracore International (DII) has announced that Geith, a market leading manufacturer of high quality buckets and other attachments for the construction equipment and mining industry that forms part of DII’s Attachments business, will consolidate its European manufacturing operations at the Geith facility in Slane, Ireland. As a result of the consolidation, the Geith manufacturing facility in Tredegar, Wales, will be closed with the loss of 47 jobs.

The company reports that this decision has become necessary due to the decline of the construction equipment industry in Western Europe and North America, which are key markets for Geith.

Neil Woodfin, President of Doosan Infracore International EMEA, said, “People are the cornerstone of our business. Therefore, we regret to announce that it has become necessary to close the Tredegar manufacturing facility. Our human resource team will be working with the employees at this facility to help them find alternative employment between now and the end of the year. The consolidation of manufacturing operations at our facility in Slane, Ireland, will continue to allow us to match production output with our customers’ needs for competitively priced, quality products. Through our facility in Ireland, we will continue to offer the full range of standard and customised buckets that we offer our customers today.”

As well as Geith, Doosan Infracore International group is also the parent company for Bobcat and Montabert.
