Fatal accident on Esher demolition site

A 50-year old demolition worker has been killed in an incident on a site in Esher, Surrey. It is believed that the man was working for NFDC-member company, Rye Group.

The incident took place on Thursday 29 September near the headquarters of Elmbridge Borough Council and roads in the area were initially closed in both directions from around lunchtime. DemolitionNews understands that the site has since been reopened.

In a statement on Twitter, the police said: “We were called to reports of a concern for safety at a building site on High Street, Esher at around 12pm today (September 29). Sadly, despite best efforts of paramedics, a 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His next of kin have been informed. An investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing and there continues to be a police presence in the area while we carry out enquiries.
