Photo Exclusive – Messiah to the rescue…

High reach hire specialist braves elements to help fell Oldham mill.

FullSizeRender1This weekend’s match between Oldham Athletic and Millwall was called off due to torrential rain. But that did not stop high reach excavator hire specialist Messiah Corporation swinging into action to help Manchester-based ADM Regeneration in the demolition of part of the landmark Durban Mill.

After receiving a call from ADM on Friday, Messiah’s Tony O’Sullivan organised for a Caterpillar 365B ultra high demolition excavator to be moved from a Hughes & Salvidge site to help take down the tower at Durban Mill. The machine has a reach of 34 metres and is equipped with a Genesis GDR200 attachment.

Grasscroft Property has purchased Durban Mill in Hollinwood and plans to build 80 homes as part of an £11 million development.

The mill was built in 1905 by Durban Mill Co and taken over by Lancashire Cotton Corporation in 1957. Production ceased in 1962, before Littlewoods used it from 1967 as a warehouse. The most recent user left in 2009.
