British Demolition Awards – Your time to shine

The categories for the first-ever British Demolition Awards have been announced.

On 20th July 2018, the UK’s premier demolition movers and shakers will gather at the world-famous Belfry Hotel & Resort in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands for the inaugural British Demolition Awards.

More than a year in the making, these awards have been designed and developed to recognise for the first time the accomplishments and achievements of some of the finest demolition minds in the world. Furthermore, the awards have been created to throw the spotlight onto several important roles within the demolition field that are all-too-often overlooked.

The categories for the British Demolition Awards are as follows:

  • Demolition Innovation (equipment, systems, software etc)
  • Training Innovation
  • Safety Innovation
  • Environment Innovation
  • Tender Submission of the Year
  • Risk Assessment/Method Statement of the Year
  • Apprentice/Trainee of the Year
  • Demolition Contract of the Year
  • Demolition Contractor of the Year

“The UK demolition industry is a recognised global leader in its field and we thought it was about time that the entire British demolition industry received the recognition it so richly deserves,” says Ben Chambers, managing director of Chambers Media Ltd, the publisher of Demolition magazine. “We also thought it was about time that some of the key roles within the sector received some credit as well. Not everyone in the industry wears a hard hat every day, but that doesn’t mean that their contribution is any less valuable and important.”

This is a view that is echoed by Demolition magazine editor and DemolitionNews.com founder, Mark Anthony. “From the outset, I wanted these awards to be truly independent and unlike anything else in the industry,” he says. “I wanted the awards to be open to everyone in the industry, not just the big-name contractors and their directors. Furthermore, the judging will be 100% independent of the magazine and website. For these awards to have any credibility whatsoever, it is vital that the winners are selected on merit, not because they’re a member of a trade association or because they spend a lot on advertising. In short, if you’re in the UK demolition industry and if you’re good enough, you could be walking away with a trophy.”

The British Demolition Awards will be open for entries from Monday 12 February, closing Thursday 31 May 2018. Look out for further updates on DemolitionNews.com and on our various social media feeds.
