Industry rumour is rife that a new demolition giant could soon be available for hire in the UK.

Based on a Caterpillar 385C, the unique machine has been modified by Rusch to allow it to operate a five tonne attachment at its maximum 64 metre work height. The machine is currently stationed in Jeddah but DemolitionNews understands that a deal is underway that could see the massive machine joining the hire fleet of Messiah Corporation.

DemolitionNews spoke to Messiah’s Tony O’Sullivan who refused to confirm that he has secured the machine. “We are always on the lookout for new equipment to add to our dedicated demolition hire fleet,” he says. “But I can’t confirm that we have bought this machine.”

If the machine does join the Messiah fleet, it will become the second-largest high reach in the UK behind the 70 metre reach Liebherr unit operated by Dem-Master. Although it has the same working height as the machine operated by Technical Demolition Services (TDS), the Rusch machine’s ability to wield a five tonne tool marks it as unique.

We will be following this story with considerable interest.
