Skanska reveals date of 18 storey blast.
The Houston Club building will be imploded Sunday, Oct. 19, according to property owner Skanska USA Commercial Development, which announced an unrelated real estate project Monday.
For months, Skanska has been preparing the building for demolition by removing asbestos and exterior brick. What will remain before implosion will be a steel structure. Skanska said it will recycle much of the demolition waste.
The development company plans to build a 35-story tower in place of the Houston Club building. Renderings of the proposed structure are above.
